FUKUROGATA MOGAKE KYUSU
Maker: Gyokko / Origin: Japan
The pattern on the surface of this kyusu is achieved with "Mogake technique" developed in the 19th century. It's wrapped with Amamo seaweed, which reacts with the clay and oxidizes during the firing process. The result is this unique finish, bearing the impression of randomness, which has both aesthetic and philosophical appeal to the Japanese.
