This tea was created in Ling Yuan Temple of Pi Lo Peak, Dong Shan and was originally called Xia Si Ren Xiang, which generally means "astounding fragrance." It was the Qing Emperor that gave it its name, Pi Lo Chun, named after Pi Lo Peak, and declared it an Imperial tea. Dong Ting Mountain is now a protected area and only the leaves picked in this area can be considered Dong Ting Pi Lo Chun.
