This dahongpao, or "Big Red Robe" is made from leaves from clones of the mother trees growing in the original Wuyi Yancha producing area. It is a strip leaf-style oolong, meaning the leaves are not rolled, but left in an elongated shape. The tea is roasted extremely slowly by charcoal, and only available in the market in July of every year. Over time the charcoal aroma mellows out, allowing the complexity of this tea to become more present.
